Decided to finally start giving this blog thing a try.
Today our MOMS group went to the zoo. I kept Bryce out of his preschool knowing he would have a great time at the zoo and I was right. He loved the animals, the water, the kids, especially being with his cousin and best friend Kaitlyn.
Connor on the other hand couldn't have cared less about the animals, but when we got to the water part, he was in his element and loved it. He had never played in these types of jumping water fountains before and found it all very interesting. I loved watching him, fearless, not caring that there were a couple dozen other kids around. To him, it was just the water fountains and him. He was in his own little world. He didn't care that the water would all of a sudden come up and get him straight in the face. He would reach up and kind of rub it off and keep on going. I must have gotten my 10,000 steps for the day in right there following him around from the perimeter of the water, making sure he was OK (as there were a couple rude and bratty kids there that didn't care if they knocked a little boy down or two, not from our group).
I can get teary eyed at some seemingly simple things that Connor does sometimes, but only because I know from how far he has come. To be told that your little boy may never walk, let alone run and then to see him do so with reckless abandon, as much as he possibly can, with so much determination. Nothing is going to stop him if he can help it. Today watching him in these fountains made me realize just how blessed we are and what a wonderful, lovable, whatever-you-give-me-I will-take-it-on-and-conquer little boy we have.
Yes the zoo was fun for all of us and today, life is good!
