Aaarrgghhh Matey's!! --Part One

Friday, October 26th was Bryce's 7th birthday. I knew it was going to be a crazy and full weekend, but never knew just how much. Friday morning I sent Bryce to school with a special button that flashed that said Birthday Boy.

I then suprised him at lunch time and brought him a birthday balloon and one of his favorite lunches from Wendy's and stayed to eat lunch with him. I ended up also helping the room Mom with the entire 1st grade class because it was "Teacher lunch time off". (Where two people take over the class so the teachers can go off and eat without any interruptions, just to give them a break.) Well two came that were in charge of the 1st grade class, but one realized that no one had shown up to relieve a teacher from another grade, so she went to take over that class and asked that I help the other Mom take care of the 1st grade class.
I then returned at 2:00 to take up the last 1/2 hour of class to give juice pouches and chocolate chip cookies to Bryce's entire class. They all sang happy birthday to Bryce, munched on their cookies and I read a book to them while they ate.
That night was Robyn Huff's baby shower, you can see my sister Mary Huff's blog for pictures, etc. I was responsible to make and decorate the cake and do the vegetable tray and dip and then was there the entire time to help clean up, etc.
I got home very body weary and had just settled into a good sleep when I heard Connor coughing and sounding like he was struggling to breathe. My first thought was, well here we go, but please not now. I still had a full weekend ahead and had so much to do and really needed my sleep and didn't want a sick little boy on top of it. I ended up getting very little sleep between spending several times in the bathroom running the hot shower to get some of the steam into Connor's lungs and having him in bed with me and him being very restless the whole night.
Saturday morning it was up to make and decorate Bryce's cake, get everything ready for the party and then by 1pm the party was all ready to go.
A week prior, I had sent the invitations to school to be given to all the boy's in Bryce's class and then a few older boys were invited as well. The invitations were on paper that looked like an old timey scroll and read like this:

AHOY THERE MATEYS
Stop yer pillaging and lend me yer ear, I have a message fer ye to hear.
The treasure's been stolen and it must be found,
so tighten yer sashes we are Pirate Island bound.
Shiver me timbers, thar's a pirate on board.
I'm Pirate Bryce and I'll lead the way,
so chart ye course fer Saturday.
October 27th at the Pirate ship of Rick and Mary Huff's,
cause I turn seven that day.
We be settin' sale at 1:00pm to 3:30 pm
fer some swashbuckling fun and grub.
Wave yer flag if he be attending and
have her Mom call deckhand Charlene.
See ye there if ye dare. Aaarrgghhh!!

The Black Pearl birthday cake.

Bryce and Michael having fun getting into the spirit of things.

The whole gang trying to make their best Pirate faces.

Mary was kind enough to let me have the party at her house and came up with the great idea of setting it up in their carport and that way the kids could all play outside, but have the carport to keep us out of any weather incidents that could possibly crop up. Because it was at 1pm, I just did desserts and drinks, which worked out great.

Here is a video of the mayhem, I mean party........

Needless to say, we have one happy boy on our hands that loved his birthday, his party the next day, and is still enjoying all his toys.
Thanks Mary for the use of your house and your help and thanks again Mom for all your help!
Bryce, happy birthday buddy. Daddy and Mommy love you very much and are proud of the boy you are.
