My Dad not understanding Connor's fears, tried lifting him into the boat when it was still up on the trailer and not yet in the water and Connor started crying hard and trembling. That wasn't a good start and I wasn't sure how it was going to go from there on out. Once Steve put the boat in the water though, I held Connor tight and stepped onto the boat and sat down and just distracted him by singing in his ear, his favorite.
When we got started he actually started smiling and babbling and liked the wind on his face and the slight spray of the water at times.
We took a nice slow ride for awhile and then pulled up to an island and unloaded the coolers and ate our supper's and then got out the fishing pole's. Jessica, Bryce, my Mom and Connor walked around the island and explored a little, while the other's fished or explored in the water. The fishing wasn't the greatest and Brenda was the first and only one to catch something...a medium sized stingray. Jamie carefully cut him free after showing everyone the tail that held the toxin and how sharp and pointed it was.
We headed for another island, but decided to leave Brenda and Jamie and their kids to go on without us and we headed back for the dock because a huge boat went by us at a fast speed and my Dad and Mom were in the front and weighed us down and Steve hadn't cut the speed enough so we had a huge wave crash over us and soaked us all and everything in the boat. Wasn't the best way to end the night, but it was still a nice couple hours out and Connor finally got to go on a ride and seemed to have a good time.
