We arrived in Cayman on Friday night around 5:30 their time, 6:30pm our time. There to pick us up was Shawn and the kids. After piling in the van with all our luggage we went to pick up Carli from her eye doctor appointment and then started the drive up to the East end to our vacation home. On the way we went through a Wendy's to get all the kids supper for the evening as the adults were meeting some friends and going out for dinner by ourselves.
We arrived at our home away from home and all promptly decided we could easily live in a house like that. After unpacking and getting cleaned up and changing and making sure the kids were going to be fine (Jordan, Shawn and Carli's oldest daughter, is a very responsible 14 year old who babysits all the time so we felt comfortable leaving Bryce and Jarrett with her and her cousin Vanessa as we went out in the evenings) the four adults headed out on the boat and went to a restaurant called Kaibo for a yummy dinner right on the water. We first swung by the yacht club to pick up Rennell, Shawn's first mate with his business, and his girlfriend Luna to join us for the evening. It was beautiful out and a perfect night to be on the boat and eat by the water. Afterwards we went to another place for dessert and to listen to some good island music. It was a fun evening with lots of laughs as Steve and Rennell were on a role with jokes, etc.
The next morning we all took our time sleeping in, etc. then we all headed out on the boat for stingray city to swim with the stingrays. The water was a little cold and Bryce was a little nervous about the stingrays, but did get in for a minute.

Doesn't he look thrilled?
Shawn and his son Jarrett.
Jordan captured a stingray for the picture.
Then Shawn caught one for our picture moment. Steve tried to catch one several times, but you definitely have to know what you are doing or you get a hicky from one of the stingrays. Steve got a nice little suck mark on his arm at one point.
Two little boys having so much fun.
After the stingray experience we headed by boat to Kaibo for lunch and then headed back to the house to take showers and catch a nap, relax or read for a few hours. Later Shawn took Carli and I to the grocery store to get stocked up on food for Sunday and the rest of the week.
That night Shawn and Carli and Steve and I again were going to go out for dinner and they had made reservations at a really cool restaurant down the street where you eat out on the deck which is hanging over the water and there is a cool lighthouse there to tour, etc. We were five minutes from walking out the door and all the electricity suddenly went off. The only lights we had were our cell phones and Bryce had a little play flashlight that gave out a little bit of light. After making a phone call to the electic company we found out the power was most likely going to be out for several hours. We were all thankful that this happened BEFORE we left instead of after as we would have had four terrified kids left in the dark. The adults all changed their clothes from dress into casual and got the kids ready and all piled into the van to try to find the closest place with electricity that was still opened. We finally, 40 minutes later, found a Domino's Pizza and ordered a couple family packs of pizza, breadsticks, soda and chicken wings and Shawn found a little park that he hoped was possibly unlocked. Amazingly someone forgot to lock it so we went in to this little dark park and sat at picnic tables and had our supper and the kids played at the playground.
About 15 minutes into being there all of a sudden the most beautiful fireworks started going off. They were incredible and lasted almost 25 minutes. We found out later there was a big wedding at an historical location right up the road and it was the daughter of a wedding organzation company that is very big in Cayman and they went all out. It ended up as a very fun and cool evening and we were all glad the electricity went off and we ended up doing something different.
Sunday was a pure day of rest. We all slept in and then later took a relaxing boat ride around the island, then came home and rested some more, cooked out marinated steaks and chicken with the works, watched the race later on and just took it easy and enjoyed the house all day.
Monday morning early, Shawn, Steve and I took the boat across the water, a good 8-10 miles and exchanged his boat for his four waverunners. Shawn's Dad met us at the yacht club to drive back the 4th one. It was a very rough day and the water was extremely rough with big waves. Needless to say, it wasn't a very fun ride for me. The water was cold and was constantly in my eyes. Eyes were burning like crazy. As soon as we got back to the house, an hour later, I ran straight for the hot shower. After thawing out we then took the waverunners over to calm water near Kaibo where the kids could play on the beach and in the water and then we really rode. I got mine up to full throttle and had a blast on the calm water.
