I have been getting my house in tip top shape. It is always nice when you know you are going to have company because it makes you do things that you don't normally do. (Shawn, Carli and kids arrive tomorrow night) I have cleaned all my curtains, all the greeenery and other things on top of my cupboards in the kitchen, massively cleaned out my garage, went out and bought three brand new area rugs at Kirkland Home and Linens-N-Things yesterday. Oh, the family room and living room looks so much better. Bought some beautiful fresh flowers to put around the house, and on and on. The one thing I really wanted though was for our outside to look as nice as the inside. Steve and I have always had an agreement of sorts, the inside is mine, the outside is his. I don't have to consult with him about anything I decide to do to decorate our home, he doesn't ask me about how I want the outside to be landscaped. That is just the way it is. We both can comment if we absolutely hate something the other has done, but normally that hasn't happened as we have very similar tastes, thank goodness.
You know how it is said that doctors are the worst patients, or I have seen countless people on TV getting a organization make over on one show or the other who we find out works as a professional organizer , or see people who are horribly in debt on TV and we find out are accountants for their profession, etc? Well, my husband who owns a landscape and lawn care company usually doesn't get around to taking care of our yard, because he is always busy taking care of everyone else's. Our yard gets mowed every week because the guys who mow all our yards do it as part of their route, but for the weeds to be pulled and new flowers to be planted, etc. it is usually put way off because Steve is so busy that he doesn't normally have time to take care of our yard, or if he has the time he is so worn out from working all day he doesn't feel like coming home and working in our yard.
A couple nights ago I hinted that I sure would like to see some pretty colorful flowers put in our front and back beds and could it possibly get done by Thursday so the outside looks as pretty as the inside. Not just for our company, but for us to enjoy as well. I don't bug him much about our yard because I understand, plus he doesn't want to put a lot of time in our backyard until he can just really redo it the way he has planned. He can't stand to do a little bit here and a little bit there, he just wants to go in and do the whole project.
This morning he said he would be working in our yard when he got home from work tonight and was going to be picking up lots of colorful flowers and the mulch today. I for one am overjoyed. I got up this morning and looked at our beds and realized how much work he was going to have to do on them because the weeds had taken over. So I put my hair up in a clip, dressed in the coolest clothes I could find and with 5 large black trash bags I went to work. Three hours later, and 5 large trash bags all filled to the brim and by the curb, I am exhausted. I used up a whole roll of papertowels just trying to wipe down my dripping face and body. I drank a couple gallons of water and I am now absolutely drained.
Steve is out in this heat for 8-10 hours a day and comes home so wiped out. I understand about conditioning and all that. People say your body gets used to certain things. Well Steve has been doing this for over 11 years, is in some of the best physical shape of any guy around here at his age that I know, and comes home very wiped out and drained. He gets tired of the heat, the stress, etc, but never complains about how hard he has to work to support us, and instead says how happy he can do so.
I know when Steve gets home tonight he will be very appreciative, but I for one realize how much more I appreciate what he does to make a good living for us. So I give my husband some major kudos today and just want to say a big thank you for all you do to make life so good for you family. I love you and your the best!
