I abhore cardio exercise. I love doing free weights or free exercises on a core exercise ball. Give me 8-10 lb weights and I will do set after set of bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses, sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges etc. But to put me on a treadmill or elliptical trainer at a gym and tell me to do that for a half hour. Or make me do a 30-45 minute exercise video, or run or jog, well you might's well save your breath, because I hate doing cardio.
Oh, I get my alloted 10,000 steps a day most of the time. (I wear one of those little pedometers from time to time to measure whether I am getting in those recommended steps.) but that is just regular walking around the house or store or wherever I might have gone that day. To get my heart rate really up like you are supposed to do, that doesn't normally happen with this chick.
I love the core stability ball because while you are working out the rest of your body with weights you are working on your abs. I have no problem doing the exercise DVD's that comes with that because they are only about 15-20 minutes long. Gunnar Peterson is an excellent trainer and makes it very easy to follow and you definitely see results. I have done these types of exercises pretty regularly, but over the Holidays they got pushed to the background. Since January 2nd I am now back to doing these daily except for Sundays.
Now if somehow I can find the right DVD or exercise that would work on my cardio. Maybe I can find a fun dance one or something. It has to be fun or I just won't stick to it. Call me a wimp, but that is just the way it is.
