A nice surprise on a Tuesday afternoon...

Steve called me around 11:00am and asked what I was doing today. I said I was doing a few loads of laundry but didn't have a whole bunch to do since I had gotten my house so cleaned and in order for the party last night. I asked him why and what he had in mind. He explained that both of the crews were busy doing yards and that he himself didn't have much to do for the afternoon so wondered if I would like to go for a ride on the boat. I didn't argue. I quickly changed and got Connor ready and grabbed a couple drinks and snacks and we headed out.
Connor has only been in our boat one time and it has been awhile. He was very nervous from the moment I got in with him and he started to cry or fuss immediately. He was so scared and I just kept holding him close and singing softly in his ear.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day out there. The sun was shining, the water was so calm, clear and blue. There wasn't a whole lot of boat traffic. It was just perfect conditions.
Within 15-20 minutes of us riding, Connor still was fussing, so I turned him around to face me. He immediatly laid his head on my chest and I took a towel and put it over my head and looped it over the windowshield so the sun was out of his face and within another 5 minutes or so, he was fast asleep. He was very tired this morning, so I wasn't super surprised. Especially with the sound of the motor, the gentle rocking of the boat on the waves and the cool wind blowing. He just couldn't fight all the relaxing conditions.
He slept for the remainder of the hour + ride. Steve and I enjoyed looking at the other boats, the houses along the shore and even saw a lone dolphin swimming near our boat. It was a really nice couple hours and we look forward to the upcoming warmer days when we can get back out there more often.
