A livingroom makeover.

The flowered couch and loveseat that you see in the before pictures are something that Steve and I bought as a set while we were engaged, to go into the trailer we were going to live in after we were married. A furniture store had gone out of business and had given all their furniture to a nice auction locally. We just happened to be there one night when they were selling this set. At the time (this was nine years ago) I just loved this floral print. It is still pretty, but no longer even close to my taste. We got a great deal for it though. They both were still wrapped in the plastic and both had their price tags still on them. They are Thomasville and the couch was $1700.00 and the loveseat $900.00. We bought them as a set for $500.00 and were thrilled. They are still in perfect condition, but I have been so weary of the print.
We had given my cousin Sue our old plaid couch from our family room when we got the new leather furniture and she found a really nice slipcover for it, that doesn't look like your typical slipcover and I loved it. So yesterday Sue and I took several hours without kids and went to a new shopping plaza and visited the Linens and Things, Kirkland Home and Pier 1 Imports and I made over my livingroom with slipcovers, new pillows, etc.
It looks great and I am so happy to be rid of that floral print. Just a tip for anyone who likes Linens and Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond. Since they are competitors, they do this deal where they accept each others coupons. B, B & B sends out coupons often, usually for 20% off a SINGLE item or sometimes they say 20% your entire purchase. If they are 20% off a single item and you have collected 5 coupons, you can use all 5 coupons at one time on 5 different items. It is a really nice way to save some bucks. My slipcovers were normally $129.00 and were on sale for $49.99 and with 20% off for each one that took me down to $39.99 for each.
Now onto my next project....
