I love going out on the weekends, sometimes with the kids and sometimes without. For me, it is important that my Saturdays and Saturday nights are different than the rest of the week. It shows that it is the weekend and not just another regular day of the week.
So tonight, Steve and I got a wonderful babysitter, Cherra the "Cinderella" that lives upstairs at Mary's, and we went out with two other couples that we are good friends with. Jon and Ada Budensiek and Chad and Rebekah Boissevain. Chad and Becca had their first child, Chase in January and he is the best baby and without family nearby they don't feel comfortable leaving him with a babysitter so they brought him along. We ate at the relatively new R.J. Gators which is in walking distance from our house. Chase slept right through the whole thing in his carrier. You would never have known there was a baby along. We didn't get the best service, but we had a great time anyway and laughed it off.
Afterwards we went bowling. Bowling was something that I did a lot in high school and always enjoyed it, but at this point in my life we go maybe once every six months or so. We got two lanes side by side so the guys could play their competitive games and us girls could go at our own leisurely pace. It's a good thing, because Chase decided it was time to eat so the little guy kept getting passed between us three girls as we took our turns at bowling. He didn't seem to mind one bit though as long as he was getting his bottle. Us girls played two games to the guys three, but everyone had a really nice time.
We then all went to Chad and Becca's house to hang out and for dessert. I skipped dessert and instead opted to put Chase to sleep on my chest. I miss the days when they are tiny little babies who just cuddled and slept alot. He is such a sweetie with a ready smile when you talk to him.
We did have to watch the clock as we had to turn them ahead one hour and lose an hour for Daylight Savings Time. It was a fun and relaxing evening and one of my favorite things to do is to be with good friends.
