Leah Fulton spearheaded the event and Mary, Tara Hydes, Jan Hobbs, Robin Huff and I helped put it together. Leah fixed the main dish, several other women brought the fixings, Robin decorated beautifully, Mary furnished the house and did all the other little things that you do when it is at your home and I did the cake.
There were 10 couples/20 people in all and pictured is the 10 woman that were present. It was a fun evening with plenty of laughs. Matt and Tracy are the funniest people both separately and together. There were times that I couldn't hear what Tracy was saying while all the women were in the living room because the guys were laughing so hard and loud in the dining room. It was obvious that everyone had a great time and I am glad we were able to help Tracy celebrate her 30th birthday.
Both Matt and Tracy are amazing people. Not only do they have four children that were born to them biologically but also have adopted a fifth one that was born in their hearts by their choice. Their youngest little one has gone through so much and Tracy and I can relate to a lot because little Isaiah and Connor have a lot of similarities. Tracy and Matt have handled everything with such strength and humor and I really admire that about them.
I speak for all their friends when I say that we are so glad that Matt and Tracy and their family has moved down here and have joined our church family.
Tracy loves the beach so that is the theme that was chosen. I was asked to do the cake and was told that Tracy loves wedding cake (even though she doesn't know where that came from) so I ordered a 10 inch round and 8 inch round wedding cakes in two separate boxes from Publix. I then put them on top of each other and added the shells and the "sand" (which is really raw sugar) and this is how the cake turned out.
I love doing cakes and don't ever know how they are going to turn out, but they seem to always come together. My plan is to someday take a class or two and maybe I can do some cakes for money as a side job.
then Saturday boating and shopping and Sunday a baby dedication and the race.
Saturday morning we had a hard time deciding whether to chance going boating or not. The weather reports were thunderstorms morning, afternoon and evening. When we woke up it was cloudy outside, but within an hour we started seeing blue sky, so decided to chance it. We were glad we did. We went on a nice boat ride in a different direction than normal (Bryce got to drive with help form Daddy for the first time and he thought that was pretty cool. He actually did a great job and listened and followed directions really well) and then ended up at a different sandbar than we normally go to. There were a lot of hermit crabs to find for the kids, and even a star fish that one of Tonya's twins found. We hung out for several hours playing, exploring and just having a nice relaxing time as we got some sun.
Around 2:00 we saw the dark clouds coming in at a distance and immediately took off. We were very glad we did. By the time we got the boat on the trailer and were leaving the park the rain had begun and it turned into a very bad thunderstorm. There was lightning, thunder and extremely hard rain. We timed it perfect and we were so glad we left when we did, because it would have been horrible to have gotten stuck out there on the water in that storm.
After coming home and cleaning up and getting ready, we headed for the mall for a little shopping since it is tax free days and the stores were having lot of great sales. We then ate at Chili's and then came home and crashed for the night.
Sunday morning was a baby dedication for some friends of ours at the Nazarene church in Stuart. Since my van had a problem and we couldn't all fit into Steve's truck and I didn't know how Connor would do at the new place (they have much louder music than he is used too, etc) Steve stayed home with Connor while Bryce and I went to the service.
The afternoon consisted of having dinner and watching the race (Gordon came in 3rd) and then for the evening we just relaxed at home. Steve finally was able to reinstall the belt that had caused the van to break down, but was not able to fix it in time for us to go to church.
It was a fun weekend once again.
