I love NASCAR, the Nextel Cup! I know some people think it is funny, but I just love it! I love the excitment, the speed, the challenge the drivers have to go through to win the race and all the stuff that goes along with it from the crew chiefs, spotters, pit crews, inspections, drivers and all. My favorite racer is Jeff Gordon(24) with his teammate Jimmy Johnson(48) coming in at a close 2nd.
Steve teases me about it, although he can't help himself by getting into the race himself sometimes, and he gets amused when one of his friends asks him if he knows who won the race and he says "ask Charlene" and sees the look of surprise on their face.
So with surgery coming up in a week and a half and knowing I am not going to be feeling good for a week or so after, I needed something to look forward to, even if it is a few months off. I have always wanted to go to a race, but since most of them are on Sunday's and I don't want to travel to another state to see one on a Saturday, the best one for us to go to is the Pepsi 400 in Daytona, Florida on July 1st. So today I got us our two tickets, with a pre-race/fan zone pass to go with it. We will be able to walk in the pits, amongst the car's before the race and possibly be able to see a driver or two.
I am very much looking forward to this and know it will help lift my spirits at times in the days to come!
