To me there is nothing better than to end the week and start the weekend with a nice quiet date with my husband. To get a great babysitter that my kids love and know they are being very well taken care of and going out for a nice dinner is wonderful.
Last night, Steve and I went to one of our favorite restaurant, Jetty's. It is in Jupiter, on the water, across from the lighthouse. We had to wait for about 45 minutes to be seated, but that doesn't matter when you have no kids, can sit right by the water and watch the boats go by and last night we had some entertainment.
For one, the restaurant next door had a band playing some great music and then this big, beautiful, incredible yacht came up to "park" his boat at the dock. Well, obviously the driver of the boat was a beginner and major rookie. It was almost painful to watch. Over and over he hit the pilings and with each hit, the upper level of the deck where the patrons were eating and the lower level, where we were sitting with the people waiting for a table, would all let out a collective "ohhhh". The thing that made it the most amusing was a group of guys our age who were waiting next to us, all owned boats and had arrived on them and were experienced and it was just about killing them to watch this guy ram his nice, new yacht over and over. They were making some hilarious comments. The guy with the boat finally just gave up with whatever he was attempting to do and left.
So we were finally seated on the upper deck, the weather was perfect, and we had a great table and our waitress was great. A little bit later we saw a commotion happening at a table two away from us. We saw two older couples hurrying up from the lower deck where they had been waiting and sit at this table. We thought it was strange that they were rushing, but just figured they were hungry and had been sick of waiting. A minute later one of the hostesses came out to seat a couple and she stopped with a puzzled look on her face. She went over to this table where these two older couples were sitting and asked them when they had been seated and then she noticed the beeper was laying on the table and that they had not turned it in.
These people had been sick of waiting so just saw a table available and seated themselves. The hostess tried to tell them that they had taken someone else's table and that they would have to wait their turn. They stated they were not moving. A manager came out and was trying so hard to be nice and professional, but you could tell she was so irritated. She informed them that they had tried to already seat them at another table, they had refused that table, so they were having to wait until another table was available and they couldn't just pick any table they wanted and sit down, that is not how it works. They were all difficult but the woman at the table was especially haughty and difficult, you just wanted to slap her. They finally gave in and proceeded to go back out to the lower deck to wait. The mananger knowing that the tables in the surrounding area had seen everything, just quietly went to them and apologized for the disruption. I watched as every table she went to, including ours, told her she had handled it very well and couldn't believe the audacity of the people. It was amusing to say the least.
It was a very nice, relaxing, entertaining evening.
By the way, the picture of Steve above is from his 30th birthday party I gave him back in September.
